I have been using the Primus Atle 2 Burner Propane Camp Stove over the past month.
So far I like this stove! It has a nice/sturdy integrated windscreen, convenient carrying handle, latched lid, boils water pretty quickly, burner flames are precisely controlled, and is easy to use.

To me MICROspikes are like an insurance policy, most of the time you don’t need them. When the need arises I am very glad to have them in my pocket. This past winter season has been mostly a lot of snow and not many occasions to need this kind of traction.

It has been snowing in the mountians of Southern California this past month and I got to take the Lightning Axis Snowshoes out for two day trips near Big Bear California.
I love these snowshoes! I have finally found snowshoes that are comfortable, quick/easy to put on, and that can correct my snowshoeing toe in gait pattern.
See why I love the MSR Lightning Axis Snowshoes here.

Front View of the Woolrich Stag shirt
There are a few items of clothing that are almost iconic among outdoorsman. The Woolrich Stag wool shirt certainly fits in this category. I guess it should be no big surprise since Woolrich has been making outdoor gear for over 180 years. But I would say calling the Woolrich Stag shirt a shirt is a little misleading. In fact I have owned a few wool shirts over the years and was a little surprised at how thick and heavy this one is. Of course this can be a good thing in cold weather but regardless, I’d say it is more jacket than shirt. To read the rest of the review please click here.

The cold weather has continued to make testing the Push a little problematic, and much like during my early testing, I barely got to ride my bike in the daytime, much less at night. That is until very recently. However, I did use it several times at night just out walking in my yard or across the pasture to my dads house. I estimate using it around an hour total in this fashion. SeasonFive Barrier LS (courtesy photo)
Breaking full force into the technical watersports apparel industry is newcomer SeasonFive, based out of Breckenridge, CO. SeasonFive has come up with a solution for anyone that has worn an uncomfortable wet suit or needed a bit more warmth from a rash guard. Using their proprietary fabric called Atmos 1.0, a blend of TPU and polyester with a 4-way stretch waterproof membrane welded between the two layers, SeasonFive has created an industry first in technical watersports apparel. The lineup launching the end of March is designed to fill the gap between rash guards and wetsuits.

Since my last update I went for several more day hikes and bike rides while wearing the Mercury Tights. They have continued to perform great and have kept my legs warmer than I would have anticipated from such a thin layer. It has not been as cold but we still had snow a couple of times. One was around 8 inches which is pretty unusual for mountainous northeast Alabama. To read the rest of the review click here.

MSR Lightning Axis
The MSR Lightning Axis snowshoes are the first I have tried from MSR’s tried and tested uniquely designed snowshoe line and I must say, I am definitely a fan. MSR’s website states:
“Packed with our latest technologies, the Lightning Axis snowshoes represent a giant leap in snowshoeing performance, ease and comfort. First, our new Axis™ Gait Efficiency system allows you to laterally adjust bindings independently of the frame, ensuring efficient, parallel-tracking snowshoes, regardless of natural toe-out and toe-in stances. In addition, new SpeedLock™ bindings offer set-it and forget-it simplicity with all-terrain comfort, while new Ergo™ Televators save you on the steeps. And of course, you get the benefit of our most aggressive, 360° Traction™frames and Modular Flotation tails to provide you with the confidence and versatility you want to enjoy broad range of snowshoeing experiences.”

Osprey Hornet 46
Osprey Packs has been making some of the best packs in the industry for the last 37 years and the new 2011 Hornet 46 is no exception. The Hornet is on of the lightest packs Osprey has ever made at an impressive 22oz. for the 46L size. The features of the Hornet 46, according to Opsrey’s website are:
“These superlight packs have been stripped to the essentials for ultra-runners, adventure racers, peak baggers – anyone who aspires to move fast with minimal weight. Osprey technology still allows for great carry with features like a spacer mesh breathable backpanel, and vented stretch-fit harness and hipbelt. Speed friendly features are all on board, including stretch mesh front and side pockets, zippered hipbelt pockets, and energy-gel pockets on the shoulder straps.”

I have now been using the Aladdin To-Go-Tumbler for a little over three months. I have been extremely pleased with the tumbler so far. The 16 oz size is big enough that once I fix a drink for watching TV or sitting at the computer, I don’t have to get up and refill very often. I have used it for ice tea mostly and I especially like that I can sit it on my desk and not have to worry about the glass sweating. To read the rest of the review please click here.
