Erickson PCT lacing

The Erickson PCT mens boots were provided by Keen for review purposes.  Because I grew up in an era when all boot and shoes were made of leather, I have a fondness for leather products.  These boots are a lot more attractive than those I had while growing up.  They are a combination of the beauty of leather and the attributes of modern technology.

Sierra Designs Savage Jacket

October 25, 2011

Sierra Designs Savage JacketNeed a jacket to go wild in…. I’m not sure that’s what Sierra Designs had in mind when naming this one, but it is a really good looking softshell jacket.   In my review I will try to explain some of the advantages softshells have  over more traditional rain gear, as well as go over the features of the Savage.  In later updates I will tell how I find the performance of the jacket.   I also have included a link to a video of the jacket. Click here to read all about it.

Wolverine Compass boots final update

October 4, 2011
uppers still in good shape after several months

uppers still in good shape after several months

July and August turned out to be very hot and dry and I rode my bike a lot more than I hiked.  However, I did wear the Compass boots several more times, whether hiking for exercise or riding my Crank Forward bike. I also recently got a mountain bike and used the boots on a half dozen of those rides.  I know this may not sound like an ideal way to test a hiking boot but since I ended up walking up so many hills, I actually put in several miles this way.  They have continued to be one the most comfortable boots I have ever worn.
