The 2016 Outdoor Retailer show kicked off with a bang at the Open Air Demo at the Pineview Reservoir in Utah. The Open Air Demo is a chance for attendees to see the newest gear in kayaking and stand up paddle boarding as well as some new products from an assortment of vendors.
I saw a few things that I thought were really neat. One of the coolest was by Klecker Knives. Their products take the swiss army knives to the next level. They make small tools and knives that can fit inside of a proprietary iPhone case or on a carabiner or other assorted carrying devices. Look for their products to launch soon.
Biolite has new products coming out that compliment their stove that allows the user to convert heat from the fire to electricity. They have a new solar panel and lighting systems that looked really exciting.
Thermacell makes area insect repellent systems and have developed an area repellent with the backpacker in mind that attaches to a standard butane style canister. This looks like a good product for those that battle insects.
The other thing I thought was really cool was a foldable kayak from Oru Kayak. It is made with a lightweight plastic polymer of some sort (they wouldn’t say) that allows the kayak to be folded up. It is a really neat idea!
There were many more cool products on display – too many to include here. My comments here do not imply that 4alloutdoors endorses or will test any of these items, but rather what I thought was neat. Thanks for reading and check tomorrow for updates from day one of the Outdoor Retailer show.
