Being comfortable while outdoors is a big priority for me. When I hike, or paddle I want to be able to move without restriction, and not have to worry about my clothing. Many times, especially paddling, I find that the straps of either my base layer, or bra become uncomfortable. The constant movement of my arms seems to cause chaffing. Wearing a backpack can make it even worse.
I received the Icebreaker Holly Shelf Cami. It is described on the Ice Breaker web site as:
With the extra support of an internal shelf bra, the Holly Cami hugs your curves while feeling as soft, warm and natural as your own skin. You’ll love the beautiful flower-inspired prints, too.
* Adjustable 7mm elastic straps
* 7mm single elastic at neck and underarm
* Internal shelf bra made of self fabric
* 20mm brushed elastic next to skin on shelf bra
My first impression of the cami has been very favorable. It fits well, and the feel of the fabric against my skin is soft and smooth. One of the things I like most (so far) is that the cami stays in place whether I am hiking, paddling or working in the yard, raking and shoveling. I have a fairly long torso, and sometimes have problems keeping undergarments to stay in place. I really like the feel of the fabric, smooth and soft. I’ve slept in it when it was cold out, and it did help keep me warm. While paddling I was exerting myself, and perspiring. I loved that the cami didn’t hold the moisture, and always felt dry against my skin.
The shelf bra offers fairly good support. I find that I don’t ‘bounce’ when I am wearing it, and that I don’t feel like it is noticable that I am not wearing a regular bra. It does not provide as much support as a regular bra with cups, but enough that I don’t feel self-concious, or uncomfortable. I’ve worn it for 2 days at a time, and am impressed that it doesn’t seem to retain any body odors. I washed it three times – the first in the machine, and dried it on a towel. I was not happy with how it washed though. One of the straps became wrapped around the body and became very tangled and now shows some fraying and loose threads. Since then, I have washed it twice, and dried it on the clothes line. Much better results, and smells and looks perfectly clean.
I will be wearing the Cami on an upcoming kayaking/camping trip, and some day hikes. I’ll report back in about a month on how its holding up.

did you hand wash the ice breaker the 2 other times?
Yes, and had no problems.
