Saucony Jaeda Reversible Hoody

November 10, 2010

Saucony’s mantra is to make the best running shoes and apparel on the planet. The company’s focus is exclusively on running and providing the shoes and apparel to make the lives of runner’s easier.

The Saucony Jaeda Reversible Hoody is the first running long sleeved shirt I have acquired  that has two of my favourite things in a shirt: a hood and a pocket! I received this shirt for testing directly from the manufacturer. It is made from 45% Polyester, 26% Acrylic, 24% Rayon, and 5% Wool. The fabric is soft on both sides, smoother on the inside than the outside. It is machine washable in cold water and is hung to dry. I chose a size medium based on my past experiences purchasing running apparel. In this case, the hoody fits perfectly in all aspects except the sleeve length. The hoody has an extended hem for additional coverage. It falls to the top of my hips when standing. The sleeves come just to the level of my wrists. I would have preferred a longer sleeve, especially for running in colder weather. My favourite colour is blue, so I chose the vita/breeze option. As a side note, I am also reviewing a tank in the vita colour. They look terrific together!

I have taken the hoody on several trail runs and a 5 km trail race since receiving. At this time I find it is too warm to wear through out the entire run, but that will quickly change as the temperature drops. I foresee great runs throughout the remainder of the fall and into winter with this hoody! I will be updating in a month or so with more details on field use.

I run mainly to exercise my dog, a very large German Shepherd with endless energy! I stick to trails until the snow flies then run on the road for the winter and return to the trail in the spring. My typical distance is 5 km, although I’ll pick it up a bit when having an inspired running day by adding a few kms. I also use my workout clothing indoors 5-6 days a week in the gym doing CrossFit or weightlifting.
