I know that you’ve seen TONS of different energy drinks and mixes in stores lately. But, really, what do they give you? More often than not the ingredients list and nutritional info is just plain scary (and hard to read). So I’ve normally just stuck with water and fruit juice. But then Ola Loa Sport showed up in my mail box. And the ingredients list is filled with things I know and can pronounce. And it’s ALL NATURAL! Yahoo! Bring on the recovery!
The first flavor in Ola Loa’s flavor line up that I tried was Mango Tangerine. I mixed it up right after an extremely buggy, muggy, hot hike. The temperatures were getting to me. I was tired of being bit. But the lure of Mango Tangerine drew me in. So I squirted some water out of my pack in to a little bottle, dumped in this tiny packet of mix, and shook it up. At first it seemed a little lumpy. But it quickly smoothed right out. It looked refreshing. And, heck, at this point, I was thirsty and needed to be recovered.
And then I took a sip. What the heck?? It was fizzy! But not super fizzy. Just enough to perk me up. It was refreshing. And I wasn’t expecting much in the way of taste. But it tasted really good! I was really surprised that something that was this yummy could actually be good for me and not filled with stuff I couldn’t pronounce. But would it really help me recover any faster like they claim? Well, within minutes, I was starting to feel more human. I was actually able to function! Saying that I was surprised would be an understatement.
I have a couple more flavors of Ola Loa to try out, so I’ll be reporting back to let you know how the rest of their line up compares to their Sport flavors. Given how hot and humid it is going to be here in the Northeast for the next couple weeks, I know that Ola Loa will get a real test. How do you think it will hold up? Well, stay tuned to find out!
