Elemental Herbs All Good Goop

I love to go barefoot – and if hiking and being in the water a lot aren’t enough to ruin them, going barefoot puts them on the ‘not to be seen in public’ list.   The skin gets dry due to being in and out of the water all the time.  I smashed my big toe a few years ago, and the nail never grew back right.  Add to that – going barefoot roughs up the bottoms.

All Good Goop

All Good Goop

So – not a pretty site by any means.  I started out using the All Good Goop on my hands, which are just ‘normal’ dry.  The first time though, I put way to much Goop on my hands, and decided instead of wasting it, I’d put the rest on my feet.  It actually felt good going on.  Not greasy at all, and yet it didn’t really soak right in either, like a lotion.  I’ve played around in the past with making ointments, and was familiar with the use of beeswax and herbs.   This has a pleasant, earthy smell, without being overpowering.  I noticed a faint smell of the herbs.  After rubbing it in, I put on some socks and climbed into bed.   The next morning I could actually feel a difference in the feel of my feet.  They were less dry.  The bottoms were still calloused, and my toe nail still weird.  I don’t want to give the impression that I had a ‘miracle’ cure for ugly feet.

After repeating this almost every night – especially while camping and hiking, I noticed continuous change over the next few weeks.   When a friend came to visit we went paddling.  His hands were very dry, due to his work.  I rubbed the Goop into his hands – after he approved of the aroma.  He was worried about smelling girly.  The next day he commented that although they were still dry, the skin didn’t feel so tight.  I’m thinking it would make a good stocking stuffer.

I now throw the All Good Goop in my pack when I am going hiking or paddling.  I put some on my hands and feet before heading out, and I feel like it is giving me a little protection from the abuse incurred during outdoor activities.   It also has come in handy on scratches and bits.  It seems to ease the pain, and speed up healing.

I’ll continue using my All Good Goop into the winter – when my hands really tend to dry out from the cold, and dry heat from our woodstove.
