Benchmade Pardue 530 Folding Knife

The Benchmade Pardue 530 arrived at my house (for review purposes) on a cold, rainy April day.  It happened to also be our ‘spring’ break.  Since the weather was so dismal, the knife was the highlight.  It is amazingly lightweight – and hopefully it is sturdy enough to survive all the use I plan on putting it through!

While the weight – or lack of weight is pretty amazing, the knife still has a sturdy feel to it.   The ‘ambidextrous dual thumb-stud opener took  a minute to master, but I know really like how it works.  It takes some slight pressure as you slide it, and the blade springs open.  The blade firmly locks into place.  While open, I tried ‘jiggling’ the blade, and it did not move at all.  The pocket clip attaches the knife to my belt or pocket, and keeps the knife in place.   The knife is very sharp – easily slicing through a tomato.  The point of the blade is pointed, allowing it to ‘jab’ into things – such as a piece of meat or vegetable to cut up for cooking.  I’ll be using this knife primarily while hiking, fishing and camping.  I’m hoping to see how well it performs out doors.  How long will the knife hold its edge?  Will it continue to open smoothly and lock firmly into place?    How many different ways can I use it?   Check back in about a month, and I’ll let you know!
