Brunton Profile Two Burner Camp Stove
Long gone are the days of one or two companies with 2 burner camp stoves. Brunton has been a leader for years with their innovative and quality Backpacking stoves. Now they are pouring on more of that quality into a 2 burner camping stove; the Profile Two Burner Range. (http://www.brunton.com/product.php?id=618).
I felt like some secret service agent when I pulled the stove from the box. The stainless steel case is very sleek and thin. I thought maybe it would come with hand cuffs since it looked like a secret service briefcase. Seriously, it is a very good looking campstove and after opening it up, the quality continues throughout the case.
After hooking up the propane canister (not included) to the fuel hose, lighting was very easy. Turn the gas valve knob on just a bit and rotate the igniter knob, instant flame. I am very impressed with the hi and low of the flame, seems easy to dial in the right size flame for specific cooking.
I am looking forward to getting the Profile out in the outdoors. I really enjoy cooking with a great stove while camping. There is nothing like frying bacon in a skillet on one side and percolating some fresh coffee on the other. Stay tuned for more on the Brunton Profile.

Cooking Spaghetti and Meatballs
This is just one of many meals that I have cooked on the Brunton Profile Stove. I chose this one because, as you can see, I made a mess with the sauce and boiling the water with the noodles. The stove itself has been great. I can’t say that the electric igniter has been the best. Several times I have had to light the burners with a lighter. That really hasn’t bothered me but it would be nice if it consistently worked. After turning on the valve, I would rotate the igniter knob several times and nothing would happen as far as the burner being lit. However, once the burners were lit, they put out a lot of heat. Boiling times have been different since I have used several different size pots. But boiling times aren’t as important as backpacking stoves. If I’m camping, I’ve got plenty of time to wait on the water to boil.
The best part I like about the stove is being able to clean it. As you can see in the picture above, I have a mess to clean up after I eat my wonderful meal. After the burners cool off, I simply lift the grill off of the aluminum frame and wipe down the relatively flat area with a hot soapy rag or sponge. RInce it with a clean rag a few times and I’m done. No cracks or crevasses to try and get food out of, it’s all molded aluminum and it makes cleaning a snap.
Overall I have loved this stove. It is light and easy to carry around. I have actually made a ‘Chuck’ box for it and some of my cooking utensils. I have used a white gas two burner stove all of my camping life and now I have found a new friend in the Brunton Profile 2 Burner Camp Stove.
UPDATE: February 19, 2010
The Brunton Profile Two Burner stove has been on a couple of outings with me and has worked exceptionally well. I have taken it with me on Scout trips where me and the scouts used it to cook our meals. It worked out great because I was able to use both burners each time we cooked.
It was simple enough for even the younger ones to use it. They already knew about cooking on stoves and the safety that is required around them. We never could get the ignighter to work so we just used matches or a lighter.
Over the course of the two weekends we cooked things like grilled ham and cheese sandwiches which we used a griddle with and by the way, that worked great. We cooked chili and beans, tomato soup, eggs, pancakes, fettuccine alfredo with white sauce and boiled several gallons of water for coffee and grits. Of course with all this cooking and kids doing some of it, there would be spilled messes or over boiling pots. Clean up of the stove always seemed to be pretty easy. A good hot, soapy rag and a little bit of rubbing always got the stove cleaned.
This stove has been a great addition to my cooking arsenal. I am glad I was able to test the Profile and it will be my all time stove anytime I go camping.
