Final Update: SOL Escape Pro Bivvy

SOL Escape Pro Bivvy I wanted to establish what I consider the lower limits of the SOL Escape Pro Bivvy.  I’m not talking about survival either, just how cold I could  manage without risking making myself sick.  After testing it down to 36 F I believe I found my limit.  Put it this way, I will not be trying it in anything colder than this unless I’m in a true survival situation.  On the plus side, I was surprised at just how warm I was able to stay on a very windy and cold night.  To read the rest of the update please click here (and scroll down).

SOL Escape Pro Bivvy

SOL Escape Pro Bivvy I’ll be reviewing the SOL Escape Pro Bivvy for the next few months so follow along to see how it fairs as part of my sleep kit.  In a nutshell the SOL Escape Pro Bivvy is a stand alone 50 F sleeping bag or it will add 15 F warmth to a sleeping bag. It is waterproof but said to be highly breathable.  Testing will reveal how it actually performs.  To read my initial thoughts please click here.

Final Update High Sierra Tokopah 6.0

high sierra tokopa 6.0 The High Sierra Tokopah has been a faithful companion on all my bike rides save my recumbent which has a seat that wouldn’t allow me to wear the hydration pack.  So, I only rode the recumbent twice all summer. But that’s neither here nor there as far as how the test went.  To read the report including my final thoughts please click here.

Update: Ottolock bike lock

ottolock coy I have not had many opportunities to use the Ottolock, partly due to a busy schedule that has limited my riding opportunities, but also because when I did squeeze in an hour ride here and there I didn’t need to lock my bike.  I did manage to use the lock three times.  You can read my findings here.

High Sierra Tokopah 6.0 hydration pack update

I’ve been using the High Sierra Tokopah 6.0 hydration pack for a couple of months now and have liked having water available at anytime.  This is especially important when riding my bike or Elliptigo and much safer than reaching down for a water bottle IMHO.  I found some things I really liked about the pack and others I wasn’t so thrilled about but to find out read my update by clicking here.
