Countdown to Valentine's Day 2011: Day 3
For those of you who have been following 4AllOutdoors this week, you might remember my last Countdown post, Day 2, in which I eluded to a bit of luxury in the next post. Well, here you have it.
Yes, that’s right. You, my outdoor loving friend, should really check this out. Buff, the “original multifunction headwear”, released a luxury Buff to their lineup last year and it is dying to be worn by your fashion loving Valentine. Or maybe just the outdoor lover who could use a little sprucing up. (Remember their old, gross headgear piece of choice? Ew. You have to get rid of that.) For those of you who have been living under a rock and have yet to experience a Buff for yourself, the Buff is a super convertible, really long tube of material, merino wool in this case, that easily converts from a neck scarf to an ear warm to a hat to and balaclava and so much more. If you haven’t done so already, you need to go check out the reviews that we have done of Buffs over here.
The idea here is pretty straight forward. For the lady or lad in your life who seemingly has it all, a merino wool Buff, especially in a lovely shade of pink or red, will show them you care by keeping them safe and warm during the bitter cold of winter and by giving them a super easy to pack extra layer no matter what the season. Is your Valentine purely platonic? Then the idea stays the same. As we all know, staying safe in the great outdoors means being prepared for anything. The Buff is lightweight, durable and very easy to stash in a pocket of your pack or even in a purse for a night on the town.
Coming in at under $35, you can give your Valentine merino wool and look like you spent a fortune. Only you’ll know you didn’t.
It’s official. We have less than a week before Valentine’s Day 2011. Yesterday I kicked off the final week with a countdown and some ideas for last minute gift ideas for the special outdoor person in your life.
Today’s suggestion is another budget friendly idea sure to please the nature lover. It’s a two part suggestion.
First up, for those of you with a romantic inclination this year, I’d recommend checking out Elemental Herbs’ All Good Lips (read Danielle’s full review here). If you haven’t figured out why yet, the purpose would be so that they (he or she) can take care of their smackers before you come around to lay one on them. With how much smooching goes on during Valentine’s day, it’s best to be prepared! So even if you already have something in mind, it wouldn’t hurt for you to pick up a tube of All Good Lips so that at least your lips are ready.
Second up is an idea for those of you who are more platonic, but still keeping within the same line as the first idea. If your Valentine is your partner in crime, your trail buddy, or just an all around awesome person to hang with, they likely have complained about aches and pains at some point while you’ve known them. For those folks, I’d check out Badger Balm’s lineup of products, which includes the Sore Joint Rub (check out the review posted here). And here is why I think it’s a good idea that useful yet thoughtful. For all those times that they’ve stuck with you through thick and thin, you don’t want them to hurt in the process. Showing you care about their well being, even if you might find it cheesy, is definitely a sign of a true friend. So cheese it up!
Both products are super affordable at under $10 each (unless you splurge and get the big Badger rub for a whopping $13).
Tomorrow I’ll be adding a piece of luxury for your outdoor friend to the list. Intrigued? Check back to see my next pick!

With only one week left before Valentine’s Day 2011, you may be finding yourself suddenly in a bind for something special for your Valentine before the big day arrives. You want to find something to show them you care, but not something that screams that you waited until the last minute. I’ll be honest. I am struggling to find something for my husband. So, in an effort to make the last minute rush a bit easier on both of us, I’m going to post a Valentine idea every day between today and the 14th along with why I think it would make a great gift no matter if your outdoor loving Valentine is male or female, the love of your life or your best friend, or just someone you want to do something special for.
Wonder Warmers (Size Small)
First up for Countdown 2011 is the budget friendly Wonder Warmers from Reuseit.com. Coming in at only $14.95 for a set of two small warmers, they would make a great gift for your Valentine. Combine them with a sweet card and you’ll be good to go. To read more about the Wonder Warmers, go check out my full review on them here.
Reasoning: When you aren’t there to keep their hands nice and warm, the Wonder Warmers are a great stand in to fill the void until you come back.
Stay tuned for tomorrow’s Countdown to Valentine’s Day 2011 idea #2!
