I moved to northern Virginia this summer and have been impressed with the number of race opportunities in the region. I recently ran the Potomac River Running’s Holiday Half Marathon and 4 Mile race held in Annandale Virginia. It is a great race run on a section of the Gerry Connolly Cross County Trail in early December. Click HERE to read my full race report.

CLE Trail 50k Race Report

The CLE trail race is a cool race in North Chagrin Reservation just outside of the city of Cleveland Ohio and consists of three distances – a half marathon, a full marathon and a 50k. I found this race when through a quick search of races near Ann Arbor, Michigan where I was at the week before the race for work. The 2016 edition was the third year of the race and there was very little information on the race besides the ultrasignup page and a facebook group. Read on to see how my race went!
Orcas Island 100 Race report

I used to think that completing a 100 mile race was out of reach, but after several years of consistently running marathons and several 50k’s and 50 mile races I decided it was time to give it a shot. Read my race report here.
How To Survive a Fall through Ice
Many of us live in areas where ponds and lakes freeze over during the winter. My family and friends snowshoe, cross country ski, spend time ice fishing and snow mobiling across local lakes. Although we are careful to not go on the lake until there is a thick layer of ice, accidents happen. A fall through the ice and into a lake can be dangerous any time of year, but dealing with very cold water and air temperatures makes it even more of a danger. The US Swim Schools Association has shared some great tips with us, and we hope you’ll all read and remember them – just in case! Read the tips HERE and be prepared.
