Ringer Wraps

I recently received 3 packages of Ringer Wraps from Clever Wraps. I’ve been trying them out on my iPhone, and letting my kids try out the size that fits their cell phones.  I really like the idea of protecting the phones from water and scratches.   I wasn’t sure how I was going to review an item that I didn’t want to ‘need’.  In other words, I wasn’t going to drop my phone in a bowl of water to test out how it would fair.   Ironically, I dropped it in the snow when I was getting out of my car, and answered that question at least.  The phone is fine and the slushy snow brushed right off.   Below is a description from the website, and then I’ll talk about what I have found out so far after about a week of use.

Affordable, custom fit, disposable protection for mobile phones and MP3 players; all susceptible to damage when subjected to water, snow, sand, sunscreen, rain, perspiration, grease, and other

damaging elements.

All devices are completely functional while protected by RingerWraps.

RingerWraps feature a zip closure for protection and a re-sealable tape for a custom fit.

5 RingerWraps per package.

So far, the wraps have worked out ok.  They are a very thin plastic, that the phone slides into, the top then folds over and has a sticky strip that hold it closed.  It is easy to use the touch screen on my iPhone, and I don’t find the plastic to be too slippery.  There is plenty of room inside the RingerWrap for my phone – as a matter of fact, there is a small amount of extra space, which makes slipping it in and out easy.  Sound quality is not altered much by the RingerWrap.  I do notice that if I try to read a book on my phone, the plastic causes more glare than usual.  Most times, I am reading while sitting though, so it should be safe to take off the Wrap.    The Wraps don’t provide long term use, since you can not charge the battery while using one, and they are not reusable.

My kids have been using the size that fits their phone, and so far, so good.  They text and talk more than I do, and said that it works fine, and that they forget its on, until their battery is low.

We’ll keep using them and report back in about a month.   I’m anxious to try it out while snowshoeing.  I use my phone as a camera, GPS and I like to log how far I go.  I’m curious as to how any of these features may be effected.
