SPECIAL DESIGN FEATURES

Bodyfit 200

The Flexi Chute is a kind of neck gaiter. It is made using 100% Pure Merino wool from their “Bodyfit 200” material. It is a simple garment designed to be worn around the neck, and can be pulled up to provide protection to the lower face and head.

Upon arrival, I inspected the garment and found no loose threads or signs of defects. Susan tried it on and immediately liked it. It fit her nicely and she found it to be warm and comfortable.

Update Jan 24 2012Snow Mt Ranch

Since we received the Icebreaker items to review, this has probably been the item that has gotten the least use. This is not due to any flaw or problem with the garment, but only its suitability to Susan’s activities. When she saw this in the catalog she immediately wanted one, and when she tried it on she loved it, but when it has come to actually using it, she has had some difficulty in finding ways to integrate it into her outfits.

When it is cold enough to wear this, she has found it preferable to wear her hooded parka, where she found this to be a bit redundant. When it is warm enough to use it without the parka she finds it to be too warm and ends up taking it off. Personally I think it she looks good in it and have encouraged her to wear it more as a fashion item then for its warmth…but what does “a dad” know about fashion?

She did wear this on two family day hikes and found it to be comfortable, but the weather turned out to be a bit warm so ended up taking it off. She has tried using it pulled down around her neck only and pulled up to cover the lower part of her face. The soft stretchy material is very comfortable and while warm seems to breathe well. So far the weather has not cooperated (no snow or cold with strong winds) so we have not been able to get out to ski or snowshoe, where I think this garment would be ideal. I am keeping my fingers crossed that we get some good weather (lots of snow) late like we did last year.
