Susan received a Women’s Merino Wool Cascade Half Zip in Black, and it was love at first sight. This is a very nice looking and well made garment. It has a fitted (I would say slimming) cut and looks quite good on Susan. She really liked the look and fit, and found it to be very warm and comfortable. This looks like it should be very well suited for the upcoming cold weather.

Since receiving the garment Susan has worn it often. She has worn it for 2 family day hikes in the Snow Mountain Ranch area as well as on our annual family trip to “Christmas in the meadow”; a weekend at a mountain camp where we participated in numerous winter camp activities including snowball fights, and sledding on an insanely steep hill. This year, while at the camp we also ventured up to the logging roads to harvest our Christmas tree. Susan also wears this to school (she walks on all but the coldest/wettest days).
She really has had no complaints about this garment. It continues to fit well and I have to say it looks very good on her. On mild days she wears it as her outer layer, and on very cold and/or wet days she wears it as her insulating layer under a jacket. She says it is comfortable, it keeps her warm, blocks wind as much as can be expected, and when wearing it in class she does not overheat.
Like our other outdoor gear, we have been simply tossing it into the wash (cold water) and hanging it to dry. So far it is showing no signs of wear.
This, like the other Icebreaker items we received, has been a real challenge for us to review. They simply do exactly what is expected of them with no fancy features to rave about and no problems to complain about. They are just high quality reliable garments that look as good as they function.
