Love your feet! Thats Spenco’s slogan for the Earthbound replacement insoles.
Increased shock absorption.
Advanced support for the arch and heel.
Improved motion control to reduce pronation and supination.
Best For Use In:
Hiking boots and shoes, athletic, tennis, basketball
and training shoes with removable sockliners
From their website: “Great for walking, running, hiking, aerobics, court sports and weight training. Earthbound® Insoles provide protection against stresses to heel, mid-foot, ball-of-foot and toe-off.
Earthbound® Insoles utilize the same advanced arch support and deep heel cupping as the Spenco® Total Support System. The unique, patent-pending 3-POD® Cushioning System absorbs shock and helps prevent over-pronation-the leading cause of many common injuries such as plantar fasciitis.
We have used the highest content of recycled and renewable materials currently available while maintaining the characteristics of this performance insole. We continue to investigate and add sustainable materials to future generations of Earthbound® Insoles.”
For some time now, I have had pain in the heels of my feet either from walking or standing for long periods of time. I am always looking for ways to minimize this with good insoles either after market or in the shoe/boot itself. I have been wearing these insoles now for about two weeks and my feet feel great! I will say up front that I have not been able to run or hike in these yet because I broke my large toe right at the ball joint of my foot. The Doctor said no running for 4-6 weeks, and Running and hiking/walking any distance causes me pain. I only have about 2 more weeks to go before I should be able to run again. In the mean time though I have been able to do some light cardio on the elliptical machines and stationary bikes at the local gym with these insoles.
My favorite feature about these insoles are the heel support/cushioning. In this picture I show a close up of the heel cushioning. I really like this design and I have not felt any pain in either of my heels. This system is the 3-pod cushioning system which absorbs shock and helps prevent over pronation. A third piece not visible in this picture runs up the right side of the insole.
I also like the fact that these insoles contain 55% recycled and renewable materials. The writing on the box says the “body is molded from a mixture of recycled EVA foam and natural cork. The rigid stability cradle is 100% recycled nylon 66. The forefoot crash pad and 3 pod cushioning system are formed from durable polyurethane and the top cloth contains 40% recycled fabric.”
The insoles can be trimmed to fit your shoe, though it looks like there is not much space to trim it around the edges. I did not have to trim anything as they fit my shoes fine. They can be hand washed and air dried when they get dirty and come with a one year unconditional guarantee.
Check back in a few to see how these insoles work out when I return to running and normal activities!
