I’ll be honest, I hope I don’t need to use the KT Tape for an injury.  However, it can also be used to prevent injuries by giving support in areas that might be weak or susceptible to injury. Since both my knees give me trouble, I plan to use the instructions section on the website to learn how to apply the tape to my knees. But there are literally dozens of instructions on the website for almost every imaginable application and the instructions are accompanied with video.

I’m no doctor so I wont try to go into detail on the technology of KT Tape but the website says “KT TAPE is an abbreviation for Kinesiology Therapeutic Tape. It is a strong, elastic athletic tape that reduces muscle pain, increases mobility, and enhances athletic performance. KT TAPE is pre-cut so that it is fast and easy to apply. Just tear off a strip and apply it to the injured area. KT TAPE provides relief and support for muscles and joints and can be used to prevent or treat hundreds of sports injuries.” In another place it says “KT Tape is applied along muscles, ligaments, and tendons (soft tissue) to provide a lightweight, strong, external support that helps to prevent injury and speed recovery.” It also say you can then swim with it on so I hope it can stand my sweat.

I received one roll of tape which contains 20 pre-cut strips. After viewing the video I see it takes 4 strips to properly dress my knee for general knee pain.  I’ll be using the KT Tape mostly for bike riding and hiking. I’ll just apply it to my knees before heading out and see if I can tell any difference in how my knees feel afterward.

Stay tuned for my next report in approximately 1 month from now.
